Huawei’s flagship device the Mate 8 is still not yet available in other countries, so I’m really not expecting Huawei to unveil a new flagship smartphone yet. However, there’s no stopping the Chinese firm from announcing other devices at Mobile World Congress though.

Take for example the Huawei MateBook – a 12-inch convertible that rocking Intel’s new Core M processors and can have up to 8GB of RAM, 512GB SSD storage, and run a full version of Windows 10.

The MateBook’s display has a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels which equates to a screen density of 216ppi. The device exudes a premium feel thanks to the metal used in its construction. Huawei has installed a 4430mAh battery on this 2-in-1 which the company claims can last for more than 10 hours on light to moderate use.

At 6.9mm, the MateBook is rather thin compared to other convertibles in the market. It also features a splash-proof design and sports dual speakers with Dolby Audio technology.

Huawei is also marketing the MateBook ala Surface Book by offering accessories that increases user productivity. These include a stylus called the MatePen and a keyboard cover called the MateDock.

The MateDock is made from environmentally-friendly leather and comes with keys that are backlit. The MatePen on the other hand boasts a couple of hardware buttons that perform specific functions when pressed and a laser pointer to aid in presentations.

Prices for the Matebook start at $699 for the base version and can go up to $1599 for the Intel Core m7 version with 8GB of RAM and 512GB storage.

A new midrange phone with a massive battery has emerged from Huawei’s camp. This week, the company announced a pro variant of the Y6 called the Y6 Pro which packs a massive 4000mAh battery.

The handset is built around a 5-inch HD display, and comes with 2GB of RAM, a MediaTek MT6735P chipset and 16GB of built-in storage. The Y6 Pro also comes with a 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP snapper at the front.

Connectivity-wise, the device has the usual set of radios including Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n and dual-SIM functionality. The device is running Android 5.1 Lollipop with the company’s Emotion UI 3.1 Lite on top.

There’s no information yet on pricing for the Y6 Pro, but the device will be sold in three different color options including Gold, White and Gray.

Huawei has just announced a new budget smartphone in India this week – the Honor Holly 2 which packs a 64-bit MediaTek processor.

The Honor Holly 2 sports a MediaTek MT6735 chipset with a quad-core processor, a Mali 720 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The phone is built around a 5-inch HD IPS display and also sports a 13MP+5MP camera combo.

A 4000mAh battery is situated in the back while connectivity is handled by a 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS (with GLONASS) radios. The entire handset is made from polycarbonate with a textured design and will likely retail for around $145 in India. There's no word yet on international pricing and availability though.

If you’re looking for a budget smartphone for this holiday season, you might want to get the all new Huawei Enjoy 5S that was recently announced via the company’s online store VMall.

The phone is built around a 5-inch 720p IPS display and comes with a MediaTek MT6753T chipset featuring a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage.

At the back, there’s a 13MP main camera and a 2000mAh battery. There’s also a 5MP selfie snapper at the front, two SIM card slots, a fingerprint scanner, 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB and Android 5.1 Lollipop with EMUI 3.1 Lite on top.

Huawei will be offering the Enjoy 5S in two color options: gold and silver, and will be sold for $187 in China starting next week.

Alas, the much awaited flagship phone of Chinese manufacturer Huawei is now official! The handset was just launched a few hours ago, confirming all the rumors that have been circulating around about its specs and performance.

The phone has actually lived up to previous reports and packs a 6-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution, an in-house Kirin 950 chip with a 2.3GHz Cortex A72 quad-core CPU and another Cortex-A53  processor that’s clocked at 1.8GHz. There’s also a Mali T880MP4 graphics processor, a choice of 3GB or 4GB of RAM and internal storage that goes up to 128GB.

Just like the iPhones, the Mate 8 has a coprocessor (i5) which provides support for speech recognition, low-power consumption MP3, functions of a sensor hub, fused location provider (FLP) navigation and reduces location-based power consumption.

Huawei has used aerospace-grade aluminum and 2.5D curved diamond cut glass in the construction of the device, which definitely spells premium in today’s standards.

There’s a 16MP camera at the back provided by Sony, while an 8MP selfie snapper sits at the front. Other notable features of the Mate 8 include a 4000mAh battery, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s EMUI 4.0 OS with power-saving firewall, a defragmenter and eRecovery.

The phone will be offered in a number of color options including champagne gold, moonlight silver, space gray and mocha brown. The 3GB/32GB version will sell for $480 while the 4GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB variants will cost $590 and $700 respectively.

Huawei’s Ascend G7 from last year’s IFA is getting an upgrade, and this year, the company is dropping the Ascend moniker by just going with G7.

The phone is built around a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection. Performance is provided by a Snapdragon 615 chipset with a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

At the back, there’s a 13MP camera with dual-tone LED flash and a 5MP selfie snapper.

Other notable features of the G7 include dual-SIM functionality, 4G LTE connectivity, a 3000mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner. The phone is mostly crafted from metal (around 90%) and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with the company’s EMUI 3.1 on top.

The phone will be offered in three color options: silver, grey and gold and will be sold for around $330.

It looks like it’s that time of the year, when Chinese smartphone makers are announcing updates to their product line. A few days ago, we saw Oppo announce a new member of its Neo family – the Oppo Neo 7. Now, it’s Huawei’s time to make an announcement with the unveiling of the new Honor 5X in China.

The device comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD panel and features a Snapdragon 616 chipset with two 64-bit quad-core processors, an Adreno 405 GPU, up to 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.

There’s a 13MP camera on the back, which sits between the fingerprint sensor and the dual LED flash. Sitting at the front of the device is a 5MP snapper while energy is provided by a 3000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0, which Huawei claims can charge 50% of the device’s battery in under 30 minutes.

As far as connectivity goes, the Honor 5X comes with dual-SIM functionality, 4G LTE on both card slots and the usual mix of connectivity features including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The phone will retail for $220 for the 3GB RAM version while the watered down 2GB RAM version should sell for $157.
